Chicago było jedną z pierwszych grup, które wystąpiły w Kennedy Center po jego otwarciu we wrześniu 1971 roku. Ten historyczny koncert został zremiksowany z oryginalnych taśm wielościeżkowych przez członka-założyciela Chicago i trębacza Lee Loughnane’a oraz inżyniera Tima Jessupa i pojawia się po raz pierwszy w tej kolekcji Rhino.
Ta 4-płytowa kolekcja 26 utworów na żywo została nagrana 16 września 1971 roku, około tydzień po koncercie w John. F. Kennedy’ego dla sztuk performatywnych w stolicy kraju. Przez ponad 50 lat koncert pozostawał niewydany, z wyjątkiem wykonania „Goodbye”, które zostało wydane w 2018 roku na „Chicago: VI Decades Live”. Chicago to amerykański zespół rockowy założony w Chicago w 1967 roku. Grupa zaczęła nazywać siebie Chicago Transit Authority (od nazwy miejskiej agencji transportu masowego) w 1968 roku, a następnie skróciła nazwę do obecnej w 1969 roku. Określają się jako „ zespół rock and rollowy z rogami ”, a ich utwory często łączą również elementy muzyki klasycznej , jazzu , R&B i muzyki pop .
Wywodząc się z kilku zespołów z obszaru Chicago pod koniec lat 60., oryginalny skład składał się z Petera Cetery na basie, Terry’ego Katha na gitarze, Roberta Lamma na klawiszach, Lee Loughnane’a na trąbce, Jamesa Pankowa na puzonie, Waltera Parazaidera na instrumentach dętych drewnianych i Danny’ego Seraphine’a na perkusji. Cetera, Kath i Lamm dzielili się obowiązkami wokalisty prowadzącego. Laudir de Oliveira dołączył do zespołu jako perkusista i drugi perkusista w 1974 roku.
